A timeshare is an arrangement made where the buyer will own a property to be used at specified times. You may receive a phone call offering “free” accommodation vacations in exchange of a few hours of your time. If you are not interested then hang up on them or if you are interested, why not buy? So you have to attend the sales pitch for you to get the free gifts or vacations.
Once you understand what you are getting and how you will benefit from it, you must look into your own intentions. If you are interested in purchasing the timeshare before going to the presentation, then buy it. But if you are going to the timeshare presentation just to get a gift, then do not change your mind and buy the gift. The sales person will try in any way to convince you.
Once you arrive in the conference room, you will find other curious people. You will have to give small personal information about yourself to the staff. Once they see you are financially stable, they will give you the best sales person. If they see that you would probably not buy, they will give you a trainee to guide you through the presentation. Make sure never to give out your credit card number as an assurance that you will attend the presentation.
Afterwards, you will move to a conference room and seat around a table with your salesperson who will ask you a lot of your personal information to know how best to sell to you. Avoid questions that will make you vulnerable at the sales pitch. Make sure the gift or vacations is free and always stick for gifts in smaller presentations. Avoid free vacations that require a credit card deposit. Ask how many meals will be free and what taxes you will have to pay. For travel vacations make sure the whole trip is free. Ask the sales person as many questions as possible to wear them out.
Next the salesperson will try to convince you to purchase the timeshare. He will try any means to make you change your decisions. But be careful not to fall into his trap. Be firm and tell him that you never make financial decisions on the spot. They may even offer you one time discounts to make you change your mind. Politely stand up and ask them to end the presentation. Ask for your gift and leave.
